Presented by ROH2, Exposure offers a unique opportunity to experience snapshots of new opera work in progress by composers aged from 17 to 62. The Linbury Studio Theatre becomes the Exposure Cabaret for four nights only, featuring future and recent opera work by up and coming composers drawn from among the thirty-five current or recent opera development projects at the Royal Opera House.
Fragments, glimpses, arias, scenes, animated films and ambient music will make two alternating evenings introduced by a compere. This selection of semi-staged pieces from new talent drawn from the world of contemporary opera gives a fast-paced impression of just some of the exciting work happening in ROH2’s world of opera development.
Highlights include extracts from Tarik O’Regan’s Heart of Darkness, which had workshops with OperaGenesis in 2008, ROH2’s acclaimed Twitterdämmerung The Twitter Opera (by composers Marc Teitler and Helen Porter), Ed Hughes’ Cocteau in the Underworld, Andrew Lovett’s Don’t Breathe a Word and a snapshot of Marc Teitler’s Stuck on a Sunday which includes an animated sketch. Works by rising stars Laura Bowler, Sasha Siem and Phillip Neil Martin will also feature.
