Anthony Rolfe Johnson, the English tenor, died today at the age of 69. Among many successes he took part in a notable recording of Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius conducted by Vernon Handley; and he is Peter Grimes on Bernard Haitink's version of Britten's opera.
