The soprano Sena Jurinac has died at the age of 90. She was born in Travnik and studied at the Zagreb Academy of Music. Her operatic repertoire included Butterfly, Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Desdemona (Otello), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser), Jenůfa, Leonora (La forza del destino), The Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Marie (Wozzeck), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) and Tosca. She was particularly regarded as a singer of Mozart and, at one time or another, took the three main female-singer roles in Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier. Sena Jurinac was born on 24 October 1921 and died on 22 November 2011
