Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Gets Its First Long-Term Sponsor
Wednesday, December 01, 2004
The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company is to sponsor the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The six-figure deal will span four years and see the dock company as the Phil's first ever long-term principal partner.
The agreement, until 2009, is a substantial financial commitment by Mersey Docks and follows the Phil's successful media partnership with Classic FM, recently extended to 2009. RLPO officials hailed it as a major boost.
MDHC has supported the RLPO for 10 years, and has been a regular sponsor of the orchestra since 1998.
Michael Elliott, the Philharmonic's chief executive said: "Our partnership is an excellent example of the mutually beneficial relationship that can exist between culture and commerce."
