Rosenblatt Recitals - London’s only international opera recital series - has signed a major deal with Sky Arts to televise the first four Rosenblatt Recitals of the 2012-13 season in 2013.
It coincides with the series’ move to a new home, Wigmore Hall. The first Rosenblatt Recital to be filmed for Sky Arts is with acclaimed American tenor Lawrence Brownlee on 24 September. Following this, Sky Arts will film tenor Joel Prieto (22 October), soprano Dimitra Theodossiou (12 November) and tenor Fabio Armiliato (14 January 2013), all for broadcast in 2013.
Rosenblatt Recitals was founded in 2000 by Ian Rosenblatt, who wanted to present established and emerging singers from the world’s leading opera stages in an intimate recital environment for London audiences. The series provides many singers with their London recital debut and has helped to establish the careers of major opera stars including Joseph Calleja, Anna Caterina Antonacci, and Juan Diego Flórez. Ten singers who made their London recital debut at the Rosenblatt Recitals between 2009 and 2011 have gone on to star in leading roles at the Royal Opera House.
Ian Rosenblatt says: “To be invited to move to Wigmore Hall is very prestigious, and then to get the attention of a broadcaster of Sky’s reputation is something we are really excited about. The Rosenblatt Recitals presents world-class opera singers in an intimate setting, and our new partnership with Sky Arts will enable people around the world to discover and enjoy these singers in the comfort of their own home.”
