It is announced today that Daniel Harding will conduct the London Symphony Orchestra in a Prom which was due to be given by Sir Colin Davis on Tuesday 20 August.

The concert will be dedicated to the memory of Sir Colin Davis, who conducted over 140 Proms in a period spanning more than 50 years, beginning in 1960.

Elgar’s Symphony No. 2, which includes appropriately elegiac music, will be added to the programme replacing Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2. Otherwise the programme remains unchanged.

Harding, who will conduct the London Symphony Orchestra in his role as Principal Guest Conductor, also conducts a Prom with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra on Tuesday 30 July.
