On Thursday 13 June, the Hallé’s Patron, Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex, officially opened Hallé St Peter’s, the Orchestra’s new rehearsal, recording and small concert venue situated in the heart of Ancoats, Manchester.
The Countess listened to the final part of the afternoon’s rehearsal which also included a short performance by the Hallé Children’s Choir. She then met members of the Orchestra and Choir before unveiling a commemorative plaque and signing the visitors’ book.
The newly refurbished building, situated in the centre of Ancoats Urban Village, has already been used for rehearsals and education projects and will continue to provide a home for the Hallé’s education and community work.
The main space can accommodate the full orchestra, and it will serve as the Hallé’s principle rehearsal and recording venue as well as providing a home for the Hallé’s ensembles - the Hallé Choir, Youth Choir and Youth Training Choir, Children’s Choir and Youth Orchestra.
