Highlights from the season include:

  • A series celebrating the music from the Cold War era and the development of jazz in ‘Hot Tunes, Cold War’
  • City of London Sinfonia explore the theme of ‘Natural/Supernatural’ over four concerts from enlightenment period mysticism and pastoralism to present day spirituality
  • Principal Conductor and clarinettist Michael Collins conducts and performs music from across the Iron Curtain, as part of the Southbank Centre’s year-long The Rest is Noise festival
  • The informal concert series, CLoSer, returns for a third series with a live screening of Shostakovich’s 1929 silent movie The New Babylon, Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time and alternative love songs with Elin Manahan Thomas and Mara Carlyle
  • World premiere of PRS New Music Biennial 2014 commission by jazz musician and pianist Gwilym Simcock
  • UK premiere of the Voices of St Columba by Gavin Bryars with the Hilliard Ensemble
  • Annual Remembrance-tide performance of Mozart’s Requiem at St John’s Smith Square with Artistic Director, Stephen Layton and Polyphony
