NextGen Committee meets regularly; aims to increase DSO support and stewardship among young professionals

Detroit – The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has revamped its membership program for younger patrons, previously called 37eleven, to merge with the existing NextGen committee, a community of young professionals who meet regularly to increase DSO stewardship among their peers.

The result is NextGen and NextGen Plus, a two-tiered membership announced at a launch event on Thursday, August 24 at Our/Detroit. A significant addition to the NextGen membership is a series ofexclusive pre- and post-concert events throughout the season—musical experiences that will take a night out with the DSO to the next level. See below to learn more about these events. Members will also be invited to join the NextGen Committee.

“The new direction for NextGen is exciting because it provides us with opportunities to join efforts with like-minded individuals in the community,” says Lydia Michael, Partnerships & Collaboration Vice-Chair of the NextGen Committee. “By engaging a young and diverse audience, the DSO continues to be an integral part of Detroit’s arts and music field.”

NextGen costs $40 per season and allows members to pay just $10 for tickets to over 100 DSO concerts. Additionally, membership includes a ticket to two events open only to NextGen members, as well as an invitation to join the NextGen Committee.

NextGen Plus costs $140 per season. In addition to unlocking $10 concert tickets, the NextGen Plus membership grants a ticket to all five exclusive NextGen events, access to DSO Replay (the on-demand streaming service to watch archived video webcasts of DSO performances), discounted tickets to DSO gala events, and an invitation to join the NextGen Committee. A two-person NextGen Plus membership, which includes two tickets to each NextGen event, is available for $240 per season.

The NextGen Committee is a volunteer leadership group of young professionals whose work focuses on attracting and engaging a younger and more diverse audience to the DSO, as well as representing the next generation of DSO patrons across the organization.
