SIR SIMON RATTLE LAUNCHES NEW BBC RADIO 3 EXHIBITION AT BARBICAN CENTRE
Sir Simon Rattle, Alan Davey (Controller of BBC Radio 3) and presenter Katie Derham today launched a new interactive audio-visual exhibition, Rattle at Radio 3 at the Barbican Centre. The exhibition, running from 14 – 21 September, celebrates Rattle’s history with Radio 3, allowing audiences to select audio extracts from the Radio 3 archive of Sir Simon Rattle conducting an array of orchestras as well as showcasing footage from historic interviews and performances as seen on other BBC platforms.
This unique display will also allow audiences to take a peek behind the curtain into the technology behind live broadcast through exciting interactive elements; Participants will have the unprecedented opportunity to book slots with a Radio 3 sound engineer and learn the basics of mixing the sounds of a symphony orchestra ready for broadcast. Audiences will also be able to try their hand at presenting and record themselves introducing a concert.
The exhibition forms part of the London Symphony Orchestra’s ten day festival This is Rattle at the Barbican, marking the conductor’s inaugural season as Music Director of the Orchestra.
