The American violinist Robert Mann has died at the age of 97. In 1948, together with Robert Koff, Raphael Hillyer and Arthur Winograd, the Juilliard Quartet was formed and, with later changes of personnel, a wide repertoire pursued, from Beethoven to Elliott Carter, with many recordings made. Outside of Juilliard activities, Mann recorded all of Beethoven's Violin Sonatas with Stephen Hough.

Robert Mann was born on 19 July 1920 and he died in Manhattan on 1 January 2018.
