The bass-baritone Raimund Herincx has died at the age of 90. This versatile singer was noted for his championing of new music, not least taking part (as Faber) in the premiere of Michael Tippett's The Knot Garden, at Covent Garden in December 1970, conducted by Colin Davis and directed by Peter Hall. Herincx was also noted as a singer of Wagner. Raimund Frederick Herincx was born in London on 23 August 1927 and he died on 10 February 2018.
