THE PALOMA O'SHEA SANTANDER INTERNATIONAL PIANO COMPETITION RELEASES THE NAMES OF THE PIANISTS WHO WILL COMPETE IN THE 19TH EDITION OF THE COMPETITION
Madrid, 6 April 2018. This morning, the Paloma O’ Shea Santander International Piano Competition held a press conference at the Fundación Albeniz in Madrid to announce the names of the 20 pianists who have been selected to participate in the first stage of the competition, which will take place from the 25th of July to the 5th of August inclusive at the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria in Santander. The press conference was hosted by Paloma O’Shea −who is both the President of the Piano Competition and of the Albéniz Foundation− and the members of the Pre-selection Jury: pianists Márta Gulyás −President of the Jury−, Alexander Kandelaki, and Luis Fernando Pérez.
The Pre-selection Jury held auditions for 95 pianists from 34 countries in Paris (13-16 March), New York (20-22 March) and Madrid (2-5 April). The pianists had been selected from a total of 241 applicants by the Competition Committee. All applicants were young musicians who study music at highly-prestigious international music schools.
