The Queen's Medal For Music Awarded to Bryn Terfel

During the Proms 2006 concert given on this evening in the Royal Albert Hall, London, in honour of HM The Queenís 80th-birthday, The Queenís Medal for Music was presented by Her Majesty to the Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel, the ceremony introduced by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, the Master of the Queenís Music. In response to his award, Terfel sung a Welsh song, ìMy Little Welsh Homeî.
Inaugurated in 2005, the first recipient of The Queenís Medal for Music was Sir Charles Mackerras.
