Nielsen’s Helios Overture; Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with Stephen Hough; Schumann’s Symphony No. 2

Thomas Dausgaard — chief conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony and Swedish Chamber Orchestras, who becomes music director of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra next season — will replace Zubin Mehta, who has withdrawn, in the New York Philharmonic concerts February 14–16, 2019, marking Mr. Dausgaard’s Philharmonic debut. The program will feature Nielsen’s Helios Overture, Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with Stephen Hough as soloist, and Schumann’s Symphony No. 2 (replacing Webern’s Passacaglia, Op. 1, and Concerto for Nine Instruments, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 9, Great). The concerts will take place Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, February 15 at 11:00 a.m.; and Saturday, February 16 at 8:00 p.m.
