Mozart
Sinfonia concertante in E flat for violin, viola and orchestra, K364
Concertone in C for two violins and orchestra, K190

CD No: DECCA ELOQUENCE 442 8239
Duration: 59 minutes

Both recordings here receive their first CD release. The Sinfonia concertante is very fine, with the ASMF exhibiting the just sense of scale and clarity that so distinguishes its recordings of the symphonies. Loveday and Shingles are eloquent soloists, despite occasional lapses in intonation. Davis’s Concertone, however, is a little four-square (not to mention the boxy recording!) – but charming nevertheless.
