The bustling, eloquent Holberg Suite and heartfelt ‘The Last Spring’ – a ‘100 best tunes’ that has passed into popular consciousness (tenderly espoused here) – lead off, Valse triste adding a macabre edge before Little Suite blossoms and charms and the open-air Serenade displays skilful variety (you will recognise the closing as-used-on-TV ‘Marcia’!) and Rakastava rounds-off this enjoyable release with rapt intensity.
