Arthur Grumiaux’s aristocratic poise, impassioned attack and honeyed lyricism pay many dividends in Max Bruch’s evergreen concerto; a lively account with an eloquent, roaming Adagio. Bruch is not a one-piece composer; the Scottish Fantasy is wonderfully intense, heartfelt and joyous, the ‘Scottish melodies’ given sheen and sparkle by Bruch, and enjoying Grumiaux’s sensitivity and stylish playing. Good support and sound.
