Edward Clarke

Edward Clark was born in 1947.

At Haileybury College his violin teacher introduced him into the world of music which he has never left. His first Prom was in 1964 since when he has attended over 400 and reviewed about 100.

In retirement Edward has produced music festivals in St Petersburg and in the UK. He has worked for a number of esteemed composers including Malcolm Arnold and David Matthews.

He has been President of the United Kingdom Sibelius Society since 1990, was awarded the Sibelius Medal in 1992 and received a Finnish Knighthood in 2018.

His reviewing for The Classical Source began 15 years ago. Edward’s reviewing interests range from Tallis (his mother was a Tallis) to the modern day with an inclination to Nordic repertoire.
